Cairn Curran Reservoir

Cairn Curran Reservoir covers an area of almost 20 km² and has an average depth of 20 metres. It is located on the Loddon River 10 km west of Maldon and 50 km South West of Bendigo Victoria. The reservoir is used to supply to irrigated properties along the Loddon River and was constructed between 1947 and 1956.

Fishing at Cairn Curran is mixed as it has stocking of brown trout and native fish including Murray cod and golden perch. Reports are most anglers target Brown Trout (winter time) and Redfin (summer time). Murray Cod is a rare catch and this fishery does not seem to suit them. Carp are present in large numbers so lure fishing is popular as this method catches most species present but not Carp who prefer bait, notably worms.

Helen At The Beach

We went for a road trip down to the coast. We went to the dog beach at Ocean Grove and she had a big 4Km walk and a visit to some friends. A great day but Helen was very tired by the end of the day. Great weather and a pleasant drive with a couple of toilet break stops.

Helen The Sailor

Helen went on her first test run riding on the Kayak at Lake Eppalock near Bendigo. After a swim and a walk around the lake she was all good for the inaugural voyage. After a nervous start she settled down and seemed to enjoy the ride. We stayed close to shore in 3 metres and less for about 20 minutes and I then decided it was enough for the first trip.

Rifle Sight In and New .22 Ammo

The Sporting Shooter’s Association of Australia (SSAA) is the largest organisation of its type in the country and exists solely to promote the safe and responsible use of firearms of all types. They also represent legitimate shooters in their quest for fair treatment by governments.

The Bendigo Branch of the SSAA offers a wide range of services to all of its members, including discounted use of the Marong Rifle Range, participation in hunting trips, (weekly fox drives during winter) and the option of taking part in competitive shoots. The Branch runs monthly meetings to advise members of recent news, and to give them the chance to have their say in the direction of the Branch’s activities. The Branch website has both event and competition calendars to download. (Source: https://www.ssaabendigo.com/)
