Wychitella Nature Conservation Reserve
We went to Wychitella Nature Conservation Reserve near Wedderburn Victoria today to explore.
Typical of the area is dry iron bark gums and the area was heavily prospected in the gold rush.

Back in Lock Down for Four Months
Regional Victoria Stage 3 restrictions
This means we must stay home except for the following four reasons:
- For food and essential supplies
- For study or work
- For care and healthcare
- And for exercise or outdoor recreation
When outside your home, you must wear a face covering.
No visitors are allowed at your home, and you are only allowed to gather with one person from outside your household in public.
This is widley flouted in my observation.
Melbourne is stage 4.
Curfew in operation from 9pm to 5am every evening.
You are only allowed to leave your house for 1 of the following four reasons:
- To purchase food and necessary supplies. This must be done within a 5km radius from where you live.
- Exercise once a day for up to 1 hour within a 5km radius of your home.
- For care and health care
- Work.
At least I've got me dawg

Caerphilly Cheese
Made my first hard cheese, Caerphilly. Caerphilly is a cheese from Welsh origins, and is a lightly pressed cheese that ripens in about 3 weeks.
Caerphilly cheese is a hard, white cheese and crumbly cheese made from cow's milk, and
generally has a fat content of around 48%. It has a mild tasteand a slightly sour tang.
$6 worth of milk gave me about half a kilo of cheese. Pretty cheap for a hand made artisan cheese at $12 bucks a kilo. Most cheese in the supermarket is between $16 and $60 a kilo up.
Maybe a nice cheddar next?
Looks like cheese
Cuts like cheese
Not bad. Not real creamy and a tad salty but this is the style.

Squeeky Cheese Curds and Canadian Poutine
Made my first cheese this week, Squeeky Cheese Curds. See video below for a version of this.
I'm surprised how easy this is if you have the right stuff and some time.
Then I decided to make some Poutine a Canadian junk food. “Poutine” is Quebec slang for “a mess.” See video below for the lowdown.
My cheese curds. Yum.
My Poutine. Mmmm OK
